Story of The Year

Story of The Year (1995-Presente) é um quinteto estadunidense de St. Louis

Histórico: O SOTY começou sua carreira sobre o nome de 67 North, pouco tempo depois a banda mudou e passou a ser chamada de Big Blue Monkey, o nome Story of The Year foi definido em 2002, quando lançaram um EP de mesmo nome. A mudança no nome ocorreu depois de descobrirem que um grupo de blues já usava o nome de Big Blue Monkey. Depois de 7 anos trabalhando apenas na cena local de Saint Louis, gravando demos e lançando 3 EP’s, o Story of The Year assinou em 2002 um contrato com a Maverick Records. No ano seguinte lançaram seu primeiro full-length, ‘Page Avenue’.
Alem da Vans Warped Tour de 2004 o Story of The Year ainda participou da turnê mundial do álbum Meteora do Linkin Park, ao lado de P.O.D. e Hoobastank.
Em 2005 lançaram seu primeiro trabalho ao vivo, o combo CD/DVD, Live in the Lou/Bassassins. Ainda em 2005 a banda gravou e lançou seu segundo álbum, ‘In the Wake of Determination’, o disco foi um fracasso de vendas comparado aos outros dois lançamentos anteriores do Story of The Year, o que fez com que eles fossem liberados pela Maverick.
A banda retornou a cena em 2008, assinando com a Epitaph Records e recrutando novamente o produtor John Feldman (responsável por ‘Page Avenue’) que trabalhou ao lado de Michael Baskette (The Classic Crime) no terceiro full-length do Story of the Year, ‘The Black Swan’. O CD rendeu a banda a posição principal na Warped Tour de 2008. Um segundo DVD, ‘Our Time Is Now’, foi lançado em Maio do mesmo ano.
Entre Maio e Agosto de 2009 a banda escreveu e gravou seu próximo álbum, ‘The Constant’. Uma das músicas do CD, ‘To the Burial’, foi disponibilizada no facebook.
