Dashboard Confessional (1999-Presente) É Um Quarteto Estadunidense

Histórico: O Dashboard Confessional surgiu como um projeto solo de Chris Carrabba quando ele ainda estava na sua antiga banda, Further Seems Forever. Seu primeiro álbum, Swiss Army Romance, foi gravado em 2000. Um ano depois, Carrabba gravava o debutante do Further Seems Forever, The Moon Is Down, pouco tempo depois do seu lançamento Chris deixou a posição na banda, buscando se dedicar a sua carreira solo. Então gravou e lançou seu segundo CD, ‘The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most’, além do EP, ‘So Impossible’.
Em 2002, outros três músicos entraram pra banda – entre eles Jerry Castellanos (ex-Further Seems Forever), e assim começavam as gravações do próximo CD da banda. Depois do sucesso do segundo CD, o Dashboard Confessional foi convidado para se apresentar no MTV Unplugged, o lançamento ao vivo marcou uma das primeiras gravações de uma banda tocando junto com Carraba.
Ainda em 2002, o vídeo para a música Screaming Infidelities ganhou o prêmio MTV2 no Music Awards da MTV, desbancando Norah Jones, The Hives, Nappy Roots e Musiq.
Em 2003, a banda lançou seu terceiro full-length, ‘A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar’, chegando a ocupar a segunda posição dos discos mais vendidos nos EUA, o álbum ficou caracterizado por ser o mais comercial da banda. No verão de 2004, a banda gravou o single ‘Vindicated’, para a trilha sonora do filme Homem Aranha 2. Com a música na trilha sonora e sendo tocada durante os créditos do filme, a popularidade do Dashboard Confessional aumentou ainda mais.
Em Maio do ano seguinte começaram as gravações do quarto álbum com o produtor Daniel Lanois. O disco batizado de ‘Dusk and Summer’ foi lançado em Junho de 2006, com seu primeiro single, ‘Don’t Wait’. Logo após o lançamento do CD a banda embarcou em uma turnê pelos EUA ao lado de Say Anything e Ben Lee, posteriormente a banda participou de uma arena tour dividindo atenções com Brand New.
Durante a turnê a banda lançou de forma independente, ‘The Wire Tapes Vol.1’, uma compilação com covers de artistas como Men at Work, The Cure, Weezer. A banda ficou um pouco sumida em 2007, até que a sua gravadora, Vagrant Records, anunciou que o quinto full-length estava gravado, e assim, no dia 2 de Outubro foi lançado ‘The Shade of Poison Trees’, o disco que retomava a pegada mais tradicional registrada nos primeiros álbuns da banda e deixava de lado o som mais elétrico apresentado nos últimos dois lançamentos.
A banda passou boa parte de 2008 na estrada e no final do ano começou a trabalhar no seu sexto full-length. O disco se tornou o primeiro album temático da banda. Em Fevereiro do ano seguinte, como um presente do dia dos namorados (Valentine’s Day) a banda liberou a nova ‘Even Now’ para download. Em Junho a banda iniciou o processo de conclusão do disco e em Agosto lançaram a b-side, ‘Finishing School’, para a trilha sonora do filme Jennifer’s Body. O disco, ‘Alter the Ending’, foi lançado no dia 10 de Novembro, contando com dois discos, um no formato elétrico e outro acústico. A banda deveria ter caído na estrada com o New Found Glory para a turnê, mas por uma emergência familiar, cancelou suas apresentações. Em Dezembro Chris Carrabba participou de uma turnê acústica com New Found Glory, o vídeo de ‘Belle of the Boulevard’ estreou no fim do mês.
